How the exam is structured
Single written paper made up of two booklets (A and B)
- Booklet A (60 marks): Multiple-choice items, each offering four answer options.
- Booklet B (40 marks): Structured, open-response questions.
What the exam rewards
- I Knowledge with understanding: recall and make sense of scientific facts, concepts and principles.
- II Application and scientific inquiry: put those facts and principles to use (through words, diagrams, tables or graphs) and carry out inquiry skills such as forming predictions and hypotheses, interpreting and analysing data, judging observations, information and methods, and explaining one's reasoning.
How it works
