- Understand that a physical quantity is normally expressed as a numerical value together with a unit.
- Recall these base quantities along with their units: mass (kg), length (m), time (s), current (A), temperature (K), amount of substance (mol).
- Apply the following prefixes and symbols to represent decimal fractions and multiples of SI units: nano (n), micro (ยต), milli (m), centi (c), deci (d), kilo (k), mega (M), giga (G), tera (T).
- Appreciate the orders of magnitude for the sizes of familiar objects, spanning from a typical atom up to the Earth.
- Choose suitable measuring instruments and justify their use for the quantities listed in the key quantities summary, bearing in mind each instrument's range and precision.
- Explain the meaning of scalar and vector quantities and provide everyday examples of both.
- Combine two vectors graphically to find their resultant.
