reading and drawing meaning from these statistical displays: pie charts and pictograms; ordinary tables; bar graphs; line graphs; dot diagrams; stem-and-leaf plots; histograms whose class widths are equal; curves showing cumulative frequency; and box-and-whisker plots
the purpose, applications, advantages and drawbacks belonging to each kind of statistical display
reaching simple conclusions on the basis of statistical diagrams
spelling out the way a given statistical diagram may distort how data is read
the mean, the median and the mode, serving as a data set's measures of central tendency
why the mean, median and mode are used and what each is for
working out the mean when the data is grouped
percentiles together with quartiles
a data set's measures of spread, namely the range, the interquartile range and the standard deviation
