Scope: The war's impact including the formation of a local government; Dutch attempts to restore their rule and local reactions (Indonesian resistance and efforts at negotiation and peaceful settlement); and a communist revolt and its effects, with the Republican government's response backed by US support to suppress communism - Indonesia's attainment of independence in 1949
